WB Marriage Registration (বিবাহ সার্টিফিকেট অনলাইনে আবেদন)
Follow the steps below to apply for a Marriage Certificate in West Bengal online.
- At first, visit the West Bengal Marriage Registration Portal (RGMWB.GOV.IN). Register as a new user.
- Then click the option of “Click Here to Apply Online“
- You first need to register here with all your information.
- Fill in the bride and groom’s names, father’s name, dates of birth, address, and other information.
- Scan and upload the necessary documents (like voter card/ Aadhaar Card, etc).
- Submit the application fee online using debit or credit card, UPI, or net banking. Typically, the fee is around 200 to 400 rupees (may vary according to law).
- A date will be provided by the marriage registrar’s office. On the specified date, the bride and groom and two witnesses will have to appear.
- The documents will be verified in the marriage registrar’s office, and the witnesses will have to sign. If everything is ok, the marriage certificate will be issued. You can also download the marriage certificate online.
- Certificates are usually issued within 15-30 days. In some cases, it may take longer.
- When opening a joint bank account
- For insurance, pension, or inheritance claims
- As legal proof of marriage in court
- To avail the benefits under various government schemes
- When issuing or renewing a passport
- For a visa or a residence permit abroad

Who can apply for a West Bengal Marriage Registration Certificate?
- Residents of West Bengal who are married under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, or the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
- The groom must be 21 years of age or older, and the bride must be 18 years of age or older.
- Both parties must be adults, healthy, and unmarried/legally divorced.
